Indefinite (a, an)	ٌ  Tanween (double vowel sign) at the end of the Arabic noun
Definite (the)	ال

هَذَا كِتَابٌ ha’za kitabun

an

This is an apple

هَذَه تُفَّاحةٌ ha’zihi

The - ال

A book	كِتَابٌ kitabun
The book	الكِتَابُ al kitabu

 

The book is new

الكِتَابُ جديدٌ al kitabu jadidun
